Empower Your Training…”Push Through”

Your muscles should be sore on some days after you train.  If not, then you need to train harder…you need to “push through”.  You can use principles taught by Tony Robbins when he talks about “pushing through”.

These principles are very powerful for all facets of life.  Each of us has potential. When you exercise this potential you have action. Action always yields results. These results will further support your belief. Your belief will cause you to tap into more of your potential.  This becomes a self-perpetuating cycle that allows you to “push through”.

While you train, put theses principles into practice.  Focus on them…let them drive you to new levels.  When this happens you should experience DOMS, AKA delayed onset muscle soreness.  This is caused by “pushing through” to a new level.  You have gone outside the box and pushed your muscles to the edge.  You have broken down your muscles.  They are damaged and sore.  Muscle biopsies taken on the day after hard training shows that there is disruption of the z-band filaments that hold muscle fibers together as they slide over each other during a contraction, as well as evidence of microscopic bleeding.  CPK levels will also be elevated as this is further evidence of muscle damage.

I am a big advocate of pushing each and every set to exhaustion.  This promotes maximum fitness and growth.  As we explore muscle fatigue and other related topics like lactic acidosis, I will relate these topics to proper training technique and how you can “push through” each set without pushing over the edge.  Empower your training…”push through”.
