Leptin & Weight Loss…What is the Relationship? How does it Optimize Health?

Leptin is a very influential hormone in the body that is produced by fat cells. It assists with direct communication between the brain and the body by keeping the brain informed of how much fat is stored in the body. It is most responsible for appetite and fat storage. In most people Leptin is not working properly due to poor diet. The continual consumption of foods loaded in saturated fats, refined sugars, and high fructose corn syrup cause the body to become “Leptin resistant”...very similar to Insulin resistance.

Leptin resistance causes increased storage of visceral fat. This, in turn, sends your body into a vicious cycle of hunger and fat storage that promotes obesity, heart disease, as well as other diseases of aging.

When you are in good physical condition…(there it is – the exercise factor)…and are lean without significant fat stores, Leptin helps to regulate your weight by controlling appetite and the use of stored energy. The reverse seems to be true. Obese individuals have more issues with food cravings, overeating, and a slower metabolism.

Some good tips to avoid Leptin resistance or potentially help to break the cycle:

*Avoid processed foods.

*Avoid refined grains.

*Avoid sugar as much as possible, especially refined sugars.

*Avoid foods that contain high fructose corn syrup.

*Eat vegetables, especially “raw vegetable”.

*Eat raw fruit.

*Consume lean meats, eggs, dairy products, and other healthy fats.

*Exercise 3-5 times per week to help stimulate the metabolism.

For cases where all the natural ways fail, there is a product on the market called Xellex that specifically targets the Leptin hormone and the messages that Leptin sends to the brain. It has been reported to aid in the messages sent between the brain and the body to help control appetite and fat storage. Xellex is a natural complex of plant-based polysaccharides and esterified fatty acids that have been shown to reduce stored body fat and enhance weight loss.

I have not seen any types of tests on this product, so always do your due diligence prior to taking any new products and discuss it with your personal physician prior to consumption.

Like Insulin, Leptin is a powerful hormone that aids with metabolism and is an important factor in controlling weight gain. Keeping Leptin levels in balance is not only intelligent,  but empowering.  Commit to making a change today. Start by eliminating refined sugars from your diet.
