We have discussed ways to mentally detox by meditation and exercise…very critical and important aspects, but how does one go about keeping oneself in balance? Is there a way to maintain that mental detox on a daily basis?
A couple of years ago, the movie “The Secret” was a big hit. The book has been a best seller as well. The central theme was about the “Law of Attraction”. The “Law of Attraction” is a concept where you create your own reality. What you focus on, what you emote about, is what you attract into your life. Your reality comes from your belief.
Now I am not supporting the concept that you can sit there and believe that you are going to become a millionaire and it will just happen. It requires not only belief but action and proactive change. Because of this, you can incorporate certain principles of the “Law of Attraction” to decrease your stress level, and to change your life.
Here are some basic things that you can practice on a daily basis to help maintain that mental detox:
*List Your Frustrations…Make a list of all the things that create frustration and chaos in your life. It could be your home life, you job, your friends, etc…
*List All the Positives…After you have done this, start a journal. For each frustrating situation, no matter how bad it may seem…find the positive(s) and list them. Take for example…a broken relationship. This could create enormous stress, but there always can be a silver lining. Maybe it will make you a stronger, more determined person. Maybe your significant other spent a lot of money, so you determine to never be dependent on someone ever again. There always can be a silver lining in every frustrating situation.
*Maintain a Positive Attitude…Work at being thankful and happy for where you are in life, and what you believe will happen to you in the future. Shift your focus from what you lack to what you will attain! Very Empowering!
*Visualize a Better Life…Build and maintain a visual image of what is important to you. Keep this vision in your mind at all times. This is powerful. Believe in yourself and your future. You cannot change others…you can only change yourself, so believe in yourself…it is Empowering!
*Think, Feel, Act…Focus your thoughts, beliefs, and actions on your goals. Do not waste time and energy oh negative thoughts and attitudes. Keep your self-talk positive at all times. Frame your thoughts in a positive way by focusing on your goals, rather that what is frustrating you.
*Accept What Is…Try to come to terms with the bad as well as the good in your life, rather than spending time focused on what you do not like about your life…another empowering tip to maintain a mentally detoxed state of mine.
Practicing these simple concepts on a daily basis will go a long way toward maintaining mentally detoxification. Combining this with meditation, a regular exercise program, and maintaining a good diet will keep your mind clear, focused, and relaxed….are you ready to mentally detox?
