How many times have you forgotten or chose not to follow-up on the goals you set for yourself to succeed? Have you found yourself not “pushing through“? Following up and “pushing through” amount to making choices and sticking to them. Often I refer back to a video interview between Tony Robbins, Frank Kern and John Reese. The first time I watched this video…it was a life changing event. I was unaware that I had been following the principles outlined, without thinking about them. However, seeing Tony bring them to light with a simple chart just blew me away. Essentially, you have four elements:
1.] Potential…We all have potential to do something but what we do with it is our choice.
2.] Action…You can have potential without action, but you cannot have action without potential.
3.] Results…You will have results from action…you will also have results from no action…i.e. zero results.
4.] Belief...You will generate belief based on your results.
Now, take that potential and exercise it. You will see action. That action will always generate a result. That result will increase your belief in yourself and your potential. The cycle is self-perpetuating. This self-perpetuation can work both positively or negatively in yourself. That is a choice you make. We cannot change others, we can only change ourselves. Only YOU can make that choice, but when you make that choice for the better, YOU will unleash a powerful force inside YOU that cannot be stopped! I have seen it work in numerous individuals.
Goal setting for Success includes the following: (write these down as they are critical)
1.] A Vision…A Dream…A Goal; In your mind you must know exactly what you want. Write it down on paper…read it at least two times per day…become consumed by it.
2.] A Plan; Develop a plan to achieve your goals…your dreams.
3.] A Time-line…a Deadline; Develop daily steps to achieve your goals…it is acceptable to take these action steps one at a time, but keep pressing forward.
4.] Motivation; This reverts back to reviewing your goals and dreams at least two times per day…maintain that initiative, that intensity and direction…that focus.
5.] Avoid Procrastination; The mother of all failures…procrastination. Remember…to procrastinate means no action which yields zero results.
6.] Ask for Help and Advice; Never feel that you have to go this road alone. There is strength in numbers…a friend, your pastor, a life coach…someone you trust.
7.] Be Persistent and Consistent; These are valuable keys to “pushing through”. If something does not turn out just right, analyze it and find a solution…this is the learning curve that you may face as you take this journey. This is the principle that action yields results…it may not always yield the results we desire, but you have results…now you just need to adjust the path so it yields the results you desire…the desire to fulfill your goals and succeed!
That is empowering!
