Empowered Leadership…Something That Successful People Should Avoid

Being a leader…the very words make some people feel uneasy.  They look for every excuse to avoid leadership. When they are thrown into it…guess what…they manage, they do not lead.  But wait…maybe that fear is fueled by ignorance.  Maybe they really do not know what makes an empowered leader.

Empowered leaders recognize that leadership is not about their success or about getting loyal subordinates to follow them. They know the key to a successful organization is having empowered leaders at all levels. They not only inspire those around them, they empower those individuals to step up and lead.

Empowered leadership requires  “delegating”…which is a far cry from “managing” people.  Even though empowered leaders understand that leadership is not about the ego aspect of getting “loyal subordinates” to follow them, they recognize that real leaders must be able to step outside of the box and push the “go button”.  They not only delegate, they must step out and lead.  They are the ones who must take the risk.  True leaders are risk takers.  They are they are the ones who subscribe to highest level of personal and corporate integrity.  They hold themselves accountable in all aspects of life and are more afraid of not “pushing through”, than some sort of monetary gain.  We are looking for those kinds of leaders.  Do you see yourself in that mold?
