Social Media…just that two word phrase elicits varying responses. Some embrace it…some despise it… while many really do not have any idea what to do with it.
Lately, I have been hearing more of the latter…how can I integrate social media into my business model? Is social media really going to help my business? Isn’t social media just for people who just want to play on Facebook? While social media management is a relatively new business model, the concepts are very viable. It creates an environment where the boundaries of friendship and business can start to soften. This softening can promote better communication and integration of thought.
This does not mean that professionalism should be lost in the face of friendship. In fact, I believe that the lines that separate professionalism and friendship can be maintained in a more efficient manner through better communication and integration of thought. Often, the lack of efficient and appropriate communication has led to a decrease in professional demeanor across all cultural and gender lines. Having access to near real time communication can prevent misunderstandings and frustration, thereby empowering individuals and groups to network and communicate at a level that previously was non-existent.
It comes down to this…are you in or out? It is game on…time to bring your “A” game. Social media is here to stay. Are you empowering your business model with every available tool to succeed?  If you are not ready to adapt…then social media is not for you. If you are not ready to see that the world has become a smaller place through the evolution of social media and that through the various venues such as; Facebook, Linked-In, YouTube, and Twitter, your networking capabilities are greatly enhanced…then social media is not something that you should pursue.
However, if you are ready to become unstoppable…you are ready to empower your business to the next level then start right now…start today.  Put yourself on a 90-day challenge to see the improvements you can make in your business by integrating social media.
