Why Golf and Relationship Marketing are Similar…

Frequently, I hear relationship marketers complaining about their business.  “I have no up-line support…my down-line does not produce.”  The explanations grow in number and size.  There may be validity to some of the criticism, but more often than not, it boils down to a lack of initiative on the part of the associate.

What is it about relationship marketing that is so simple yet so challenging?  Is it the technical aspects?  Is it the products?  Is it the comp plan?  No, it is not “pushing through” on the part of the associate.  It is the lack of duplicity.  It is the lure of easy money and believe me…there is no easy money.  It is a lot of hard work.  It is consistency and persistency.  It is meeting a prospect at 10:00 at night when you are already very tired.  Being successful in relationship marketing requires that you are 100 percent authentic with a laser focused single-minded goal of complete success.

So how does this relate to the game of golf?  If you want to be a successful golf professional, you need to be consistently duplicable…day after day.  It is not a sport that you can go out once a month to hit balls and expect to bring your “A” game when you tee off.  It will not happen.  Golf requires many long hours on the driving range hitting ball after ball.  It is duplicating that perfect swing time after time.

So are you ready to bring your “A” game to relationship marketing?  Are you ready to be consistently duplicable?  Find an accountability partner…someone who you know and trust.  Someone who will tell it like it is and hold you accountable for what you are doing, on a daily basis.  Are you ready to be in the game?  Are you ready to become unstoppably empowered?  It is your life and the game is always on!

Yours In Success…
