The Mentality of a Head Football Coach is Your Winning Formula in Network Marketing

I was watching the NFL championship games yesterday and it suddenly hit me like a brick in the face.  If you want to win at network marketing, you need to change your focus.  Make your focus like that of a head football coach.

Head football coaches never quit.  They are always strategizing for the next play…the next game…the next year.  Their brain is wired 24/7 to win.  They refuse to lose, even if the team is losing.  It is not some type of fantasy thought process that they embrace, but rather a stubborn tenacity of never ever quitting, no matter how far behind they might be in a given game.

If you ever watch an NFL game, you see the coach constantly pacing the field, talking into the microphone and speaking to his players.  His attitude is “game on”.  His demeanor is focused.  He is in control.  He takes calculated risks.  He pushes the envelope until time has expired in the game.

After the game, he gathers his team around no matter whether they won or lost to discuss various aspects of the game.  This is typically followed by analysis of game film and planning for the next evolution.  Are you getting the picture?  It is non-stop 24/7 pushing through…no excuses and full throttle.

Ok, you say…they are paid big money to do this and this is their profession.  I ask…isn’t network marketing your profession?  How do you think the 7-figure income earners did it?  Was it luck?  No, it is hard work and consistent persistency.  It is never giving up even when all your friends and family say NO.  You keep moving.  You keep grooving. You keep evolving.  You keep reinventing yourself.

Are you getting the picture?  If success was that simple, we would have had electricity 50 years earlier than when Thomas Edison hit the jackpot.  It is time to change your attitude…change your thought process.  It is time to put that empowering game face on…are you ready to really become empowered?

    Hi Martin,

This is a great observation about comparing the mentality of football coaches to our mentality of the game of internet marketing. The same concepts definitely apply as they do if we were head coaches. The key to winning is always “hard work and consistent persistency.”

These coaches we watch in the NFL are passionate about what they do, and as you stated, they get paid big money. Well, since I know you understand the game of football, remember the days when players and coaches made very little money? I have a friend who played football in his younger years (back in the 40″s) and had to make a choice between playing football or raising his family. The income from playing football was not enough in those days to financially sustain his family, so he moved on with the lifelong torment of leaving what he was most passionate. He left playing football, but he never “quit” football.

The tenacity of the coaches and the players is always interesting. You never know what might or will happen, even to the last few seconds of a game! That’s what makes it fun to watch. The coaches and the players have to stay in control and stay focused to the end. If a team loses, they move on to the next strategy.

If a team doesn’t make it to the top one year, they evaluate what they need to do next time to win. So we all have a choice in our businesses. Do we play to win? Or do we play to lose? This post is great because it gives me a graphic of the internet being this giant football field in cyberspace! Remember, not just in football, but in life, “The Game Is Always On!.”

Raena…that is so true. The game is always on! Often, we forget that in our own lives. Professional athletes and coaches have to always be in the game as it moves so quickly and there are no ponts for second best. Thanks.
