Amid the turmoil and frustration of preparing for the Christmas holidays, I suddenly stopped and reflected on a very close friend. He is a friend who is always there. He is a friend who always cares. He is a friend who laughs with me and grieves with me. When I am sad, He wraps His arms around me. He is someone whom I can always talk to about my inner most thoughts and concerns. He continuously cares about how I am feeling. He cares about my health. He always put me first even when I do not put Him first. At the lowest points in my life He carried me through.
You see, before I was born He existed and knew all about me. He has always
existed. He loved each of us so much that He came to this earth about 2000 years ago and was born in a humble little manger. He grew up in a poor family until it was His time. His time came and he showed us the true meaning of paying it forward because He lived to make others feel better. He lived to heal the sick and raise the dead. He lived to die a brutal death so that we can live and spend eternity with Him. He arose from the dead three days later triumphant over the grave. He is the resurrection and the life.
He gave us the most incredible examples of paying it forward throughout His life on earth. His final example was when He went back to Heaven. He said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are
many rooms in my Father’s house; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where I am”. John 14:1-3 NCV
Do you know my closest friend, Jesus? If you do, then share this with someone who may not know Him. If you don’t know Him yet, then take a few moments and talk with Him. He is just waiting and wants to be your best friend too. Pay it forward my friend and have a wonderful Christmas holiday.
